What’s Hiding in Your Body? Parasites, Heavy Metals & Your Health

I’ve understood for many years that our bodies are continually exposed to things we would rather not have accumulating inside them. That awareness became especially important during my cancer journey, when I began looking carefully at what I was putting into my body, what I was being exposed to, and what I could do to reduce unnecessary burdens.

Recently, I decided it was time to focus more intentionally on detoxing. The world we live in has become much more toxic than it was when I went through cancer. So, recently, I competed a heavy metal cleanse that lasted several weeks and followed it with an 18-day parasite cleanse.

The Basics of Detox

Heavy metals and Parasites certainly weren't a new subject to me, but going through this process reminded me again just how easily we can be exposed to them in everyday life. Food, water, soil, travel, undercooked foods, and contact with animals can all be potential sources of certain parasites.

And then there are our pets! If you're an animal lover like I am, you know how close they become to us. They walk through grass and soil, investigate all kinds of things outside, and then come inside, climb into our laps, and lick our hands—and sometimes our faces. Certain parasites carried by animals can be transmitted to people, so close contact with pets is another reason I believe this subject deserves our attention.

For me, it comes back to a principle that has guided my approach to health for years: What is supporting my body, and what might be unnecessarily burdening it?

If my body is already working hard to keep me healthy, I want to do what I can to support it—not give it one more battle to fight.

Our immune system is constantly working on our behalf, protecting us from viruses, bacteria, pathogens, and other things that don't belong. If parasites are present, that's one more thing the body has to deal with.

That's why I take detoxing seriously. I don't approach it from fear. I approach it from stewardship. God gave me this body, and I want to do what I reasonably can to care for it, support it, and remove unnecessary obstacles to good health.

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” — Hosea 4:6

Parasites hide behind heavy metals in our bodies. That’s why it’s important to eliminate the metals before dealing with the parasites.

Why Does This Matter?

The more we learn about our bodies, the better equipped we are to make informed decisions about caring for them. For me, heavy metal and parasite cleansing have become part of that continuing journey and something I revisit periodically.

Parasites live off a host, and depending on the type, they can affect the body in different ways. If you're dealing with ongoing fatigue, digestive problems, skin issues, brain fog, food cravings, changes in appetite, or simply don't feel like yourself, there can be many possible reasons. But parasites can cause all these symptoms.

Detoxifying My Body

Before recommending a specific product to you, I wanted to complete the protocol myself, using that product.

I recently finished an 18-day herbal parasite cleanse based on the work of Dr. Hulda Clark. It uses green black walnut hull, wormwood, and cloves as its primary herbs.

Dr. Clark wrote extensively about her belief in a connection between parasites, toxins, and serious disease, including cancer. Her work was one of the reasons I wanted to explore this particular approach for myself.

As many of you already know, I prefer natural approaches whenever possible.

And here's something important: I didn't have a dramatic experience where I visibly saw parasites leaving my body.

I mention that because you may hear stories from people who do. I didn't—and that's okay.

I’m certain that one of the reasons, is because I do cleanses periodically. I've used other parasite cleanses over the years and tried different brands. But after reading Dr. Clark's work, I was interested in trying her approach. Now that I've completed the protocol, I believe this continues to be an area of health worth paying attention to. And Dr. Clark’s products are worth strongly considering.

Periodic heavy metal and parasite cleansing is something I have personally incorporated into my wellness routine and continue to do annually, at a minimum.

This Isn't About Fear

That's not my message.

My message is the same one I've shared with you for years:

Learn about your body. Ask questions. Don't be afraid to investigate things you may not have considered before.

When I was facing terminal cancer, there were so many things I wished I had known earlier. That's one reason I'm passionate about sharing what I continue to learn today.

I don't believe God wants us living in fear of everything that might harm us. But I do believe there is wisdom in learning how to better care for the incredible body He has given us.

“I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well.” — Psalm 139:14

God designed your body with remarkable systems to protect, repair, eliminate, and restore. My approach has always been to give the body more of what supports it and reduce what burdens it.

That's really what this is about.

If you've been struggling physically and haven't found answers, keep looking. Parasites may have nothing to do with what you're experiencing—at the same time, they're a possibility you may want to investigate rather than overlook.

And even if you're feeling great, I believe it's wise to learn how to support our bodies before problems arise.

The Cleanse I Used

Because I know many of you will ask what I personally used, I'm sharing the exact cleanse below.

This is Dr. Clark's 18-day parasite cleanse. You can read about the ingredients, protocol, and maintenance recommendations and decide whether it's something you want to consider for yourself. I also added a binder to this cleanse.

Why I Addressed Heavy Metals First

Before beginning my parasite cleanse, I chose to first complete a heavy metal detox. Heavy metals such as mercury, lead, Barium and cadmium often accumulate in the body and contribute to oxidative stress and interfere with normal cellular and immune functions. My goal was simple: reduce one potential burden before asking my body to deal with another.

For me, doing these cleanses in that order was a more effective, yet gradual approach to detoxification.

Why a Binder Matters

One important part of any parasite cleanse is making sure your body can effectively eliminate the waste being released. A binder helps by binding or absorbing the unwanted substances (dead parasites) in the digestive tract so they can be carried out through normal elimination. I consider this an important part of supporting the body during a cleanse—especially along with good hydration—in order to avoid the feelings of toxicity.

There are several natural binders to choose from, including chlorella, bentonite clay, zeolite, pectin, activated charcoal, and food-grade diatomaceous earth. I believe supporting good elimination during a cleanse is extremely important, so this is not a step I would skip. Please be aware that a binder is not included in the parasite cleanse kit I am recommending, so you will need to purchase one separately. Be sure to research the different options and choose the one that's right for you.

We're all still learning—and I'm grateful that we get to learn together.
