When My Faith Felt Weak
During my battle with cancer, there were days… faith didn’t feel present at all.
And if you’ve ever faced something huge and overwhelming—like a cancer diagnosis—you may understand exactly what that feels like.
There was a picture in my mind of what faith was supposed to look like—strong, confident, certain, unshakable.
But that wasn’t always the reality.
Some days were filled with fear. Real fear. The kind that lingers quietly in the background… and then suddenly rises up in a fierce, overwhelming wave.
Other days brought questions—about the future, about health, about whether everything was being done “right.”
And then there were the thoughts that were hardest to admit out loud…
Is there even enough faith to get through this? Is this what faith is supposed to look like?
If you’ve ever wrestled with questions like these, you’re not alone.
One of the biggest turning points in my healing journey came when I realized something simple—but powerful:
Faith isn’t about how it feels. It’s about where you place your trust.
That realization changes everything.
Because if faith were based on feelings, it would fail on the hardest days—the days when fear
is louder than confidence… when emotions don’t line up with what is believed.
But faith isn’t measured by emotions.
It’s measured by alignment with what God says in His Word.
Choosing to believe what His Word promises
Taking action each day in agreement with what He says
Standing firm regardless of circumstances or symptoms
Even on the weakest days… trust can still be chosen.
Not perfectly. Not boldly every moment. But honestly—with whatever is there that day.
Feelings don’t determine faith.
Belief does.
And when belief is grounded in God’s promises, it begins to shape words, actions, and daily choices. Faith becomes something lived out—something acted upon.
That’s when everything begins to work.
Because this is different from the way the world operates.
It’s God’s way.
And it matters more than most people realize.
That changed everything for me.
The Kind of Faith God Honors
Over time, it becomes clear that God isn’t asking for perfect faith.
He’s asking for a willing heart—and the choices that follow.
Choices that come into agreement with Him.
A heart that keeps trusting—even when it doesn’t feel strong. A heart that says, “God, there isn’t much strength today… but I’m still choosing You.”
That kind of faith is powerful.
Because it’s real. And it keeps life aligned with God.
It’s the kind of faith that doesn’t just believe internally—it acts, speaks, and behaves in agreement with what is held in the heart.
What Scripture Says About Faith
Hebrews 11:6 gives us such a clear and encouraging picture of how God sees faith:
“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”
Notice what that verse doesn’t say.
It doesn’t say you have to feel strong all the time. It doesn’t say you have to be fearless. It doesn’t say you have to have it all figured out.
It simply says to come to God… and believe He is who He says He is.
And that He responds to those who seek Him.
That means even on your weakest day—you can still have real, meaningful faith.
If Your Faith Feels Weak Today
If you’re walking through cancer… or any difficult season… and your faith doesn’t feel strong right now, I want you to hear this:
You are not disqualified from victory.
You’re human.
Faith isn’t about having everything together. It’s about continuing to take one small step toward God, even when it feels hard.
Even when it feels uncertain.
Even when all you can offer is a quiet, “God… I’m still here and I trust You and Your Word.”
That step matters.
And over time, those small steps build something stronger than feelings ever could.
They build a foundation of trust.
A Simple Step Forward
You don’t have to have perfect faith today.
You just need to take the next step.
Turn toward Jesus. Trust Him with what you have. And let Him meet you there.
Because sometimes the strongest faith… is simply the faith that takes another action based upon what you believe in your heart.
Standing in faith with you,
