The Solution Is More Powerful Than the Problem

There is a spiritual principle that applies to nearly every situation we face in life. It is simple, powerful—and completely opposite of the way the world teaches us to think.
Most people are trained to focus on the problem. God teaches us to focus on the solution.
Fear vs Faith
If you’re dealing with fear, the answer is not to fight fear directly. The only way to remove fear is to replace it with something stronger—faith (Romans 10:17).
· Fear and faith cannot occupy the same space.
Fear is simply faith in reverse—believing that something bad is going to happen. Faith, on the other hand, believes that God is faithful and that His promises are true.
Darkness vs Light
Think of fear like darkness in a room. You cannot remove darkness by commanding it to leave, wishing it away, or focusing on it. The only way to eliminate darkness is to turn on the light.
Light doesn’t struggle with darkness. It simply replaces it.
This is how God’s kingdom works.
Jesus addressed this very principle with His disciples. In the middle of a storm, He said:
“Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” (Matthew 8:26)
"Then He arose, rebuked the wind and the sea, and there was a great calm."
Notice what He connected—fear with little faith.
He didn’t tell them to try harder not to be afraid. Instead, He revealed the real issue: a lack of faith. The solution was not to wrestle with fear, but to strengthen faith.
We don’t overcome darkness by fighting darkness. We overcome it by turning on the light.
· Darkness and light cannot occupy the same space.
This powerful principle became very real to me during my own healing journey.
Sickness vs Healing
When I was diagnosed with cancer, I had a choice. I could focus my attention on the disease—trying to attack it, destroy it, and force it out—or I could focus on strengthening what God had already placed inside my body—my immune system. The part of me God created to protect and heal me. Through my ignorance and lack of care, it had become weak, allowing disease to develop.
I chose to rebuild my immune system.
Instead of centering my efforts on the cancer itself, I focused on restoring my body to the way God designed it to function. As my immune system grew stronger, it began to do what it was created to do—it brought healing.
· Life and Death cannot occupy the same space.
I focused on the solution… and the solution took care of the problem.
This is often where we struggle, because God’s way doesn’t look like the world’s way.
The World’s Way
The world says, “Attack the problem.” God says, “Align with the solution I’ve already provided.”
The world says, “I’ll believe it when I see it.”
God says: “Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.” (Mark 11:24)
God’s Way
God’s way requires faith first—then manifestation follows.
That’s why renewing our thinking is so important. If we continue to think the way the world thinks, we will continue to approach problems the way the world does—and miss what God has already made available.
Scripture tells us clearly: “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” (Romans 12:2)
Transformation begins when we shift our focus from the problem to God’s solution.
Bondage vs Freedom
Even in spiritual battles, this principle still applies.
James 4:7–8 says: “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you…”
Notice the order. It begins with submission to God.
Victory doesn’t start with fighting—it starts with spiritual agreement.
When we humble ourselves, draw near to God, and come into agreement with Him, resistance naturally follows. His presence becomes the dominant force.
I learned this firsthand when I struggled with depression years ago. After recognizing it as a spiritual attack, I took authority in Jesus’ name — and cast the spirit of depression out of my life in Jesus’ name. But I didn’t stop there. I then praised the Lord.
The Bible tells us that God inhabits the praises of His people (Psalm 22:3). When He is present, the enemy cannot remain.
Each time depression tried to return, I refused to give it a place and turned my focus back to the Lord. Over time, it lost its hold completely and left for good more than 30 years ago.
· God’s Spirit and evil cannot coexist.
When we come into agreement with God and His Word through faith, we position ourselves to receive what He has already promised.
Faith is not passive. It is not wishful thinking. Faith is a consistent, deliberate alignment with what you believe—expressed through your thoughts, your words, and your actions.
God has already provided the answer.
Our part is to believe it… agree with it… and act on it — using our words and behavior.
And when we do, the solution has a way of taking care of the problem. Because God’s solution is always more dominant and powerful that any problem satan can bring into our life.
Standing in faith with you,
