God’s Way to Overcome Sickness, Fear, and Depression

ree

God has given us the incredible gift of free will. With that gift comes responsibility: to align our thoughts, words, and actions with Him. When we agree with God in our thinking, confess His promises with our mouths, and act in obedience with our bodies, we position ourselves for His healing power to work in our lives.

When I was facing cancer, I didn’t deny what my body was experiencing, but I chose to agree with what God had already declared: I am healed. Even before the physical manifestation appeared, I spoke God’s Word over my situation because His truth is greater than my

circumstances.

Hebrews 11:1 reminds us: “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Faith is not built on what we can see, feel, or touch. It is anchored in the eternal, unchanging Word of God. His Word never returns void but accomplishes what He sends it to do.

The spiritual realm is more real than this temporary, natural world. Everything we see will one day pass away, but the promises of God will remain. That’s why it’s so important to build up our spirit—the real “you”—through prayer, Scripture, and fellowship with the Holy Spirit. A strong spirit can sustain us through sickness, depression, fear, or any attack of the enemy.

Depression, fear, and hopelessness are not God’s will. Jesus said, “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10). When thoughts of despair come, we must resist them, take them captive, and declare the truth of God’s Word instead. Speaking the Word closes the door to the enemy and opens the door to God’s joy, peace, and healing.

The key is consistency. Just like learning to ride a bike, you may stumble at first. But the more you practice speaking God’s Word and spending time in His presence, the more natural it becomes—and soon His truth feels more real than the lies of the enemy.

Friend, you were created to walk in health, joy, and strength. God has given you His Word as the foundation, faith as the currency of Heaven, and His Spirit as your Helper. Don’t settle for temporary fixes—press into God’s way, which brings lasting transformation and healing.

God bless you,

Paula Black
