Do You Know What Cancer Really Is?

One of the biggest “aha” moments I had during the early days of my cancer journey completely changed the way I approached healing.

For most of my life, I believed something many people assume—that cancer is a foreign invader, an outside enemy attacking the body.

But what I discovered shifted my perspective in a profound way.

What Cancer Is Not: Cancer is not a foreign invader.

As I began to research and understand more, I learned that cancer actually begins from within. It starts when cells in the body become damaged and their DNA messaging becomes altered.

The human body is incredibly complex, made up of roughly 30 to 40 trillion cells. Each one is created with purpose. Every healthy cell has a built-in assignment, a natural life cycle, and a role to play. It grows, does its job, and then makes way for new, healthy cells.

It’s a beautifully designed system.

Scripture reminds us of this intentional design:

“I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.” (Psalm 139:14)

Your body was not created in chaos—it was created with divine order, intelligence, and purpose.

But a damaged cell tells a different story.

When a cell’s DNA—its internal instruction manual—is altered, it no longer functions as it was designed. Instead of contributing to the body, it begins to operate outside of its intended purpose.

Even more concerning, these damaged cells can continue to multiply. As they divide, they produce more cells carrying the same faulty instructions.

Normally, the body has built-in processes that regulate how long cells live. Healthy cells know when to stop and when to die. But cancer cells can lose that signal. Without it, they continue growing, multiplying, and eventually accumulating into what we recognize as a tumor.

So in simple terms:

Cancer is not a foreign invader—it is our own damaged cells no longer functioning as they were designed.

And while that realization can feel unsettling at first, it also reveals something incredibly important:

Your body is not your enemy.

Your body is not working against you—it is responding to something that has gone off course. And if something has gone off course, there is hope for restoration.

God designed the body with an incredible ability to heal, restore, and renew. That truth is woven not only into science, but into Scripture:

“He sent His word and healed them, And delivered them from their destructions.” (Psalm 107:20)

Healing is not foreign to your body—it is part of its design.

And through Christ, we are reminded of an even deeper promise:

“Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree… by whose stripes you were healed.” (1 Peter 2:24)

Healing is not just a possibility—it is something Jesus made provision for.

As you walk your healing journey, this perspective matters. Instead of seeing your body as something to fight against, you can begin to partner with it. To support it. To nourish it. To believe in its God-given ability to move toward wholeness.

This doesn’t ignore the seriousness of cancer—but it reframes the battle.

You are not fighting your body.

You are supporting it as it returns to the design God originally created.

And that shift—from fear to understanding, from fighting to partnering—can be a powerful step forward in the healing journey.

Standing in faith with you,
