Cancer: What Your Doctor Won’t Tell You

Are you one of those people who buy lottery tickets hoping that maybe—just maybe—this time you’ll be the lucky winner? Statistically, the odds are 1 in 175 million. Once I realized I had a greater chance of being struck by lightning than winning the lottery, I never bought another ticket.
But let’s imagine a different scenario. What if you were told you had a 1 in 7 chance of “winning” something huge? Odds like that might change your behavior, right? You’d probably take action.
Well, those are the odds when it comes to cancer. According to the American Cancer Society:
1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.
1 in 2 men will be diagnosed.
And you have a 1 in 7 chance of dying from it.
Those are staggering numbers. So why don’t more people make changes once they know the odds?
My Journey Through Cancer
Twenty-eight years ago, I was diagnosed with terminal cancer and given just a few months to live. After much research, I chose not to go the traditional medical route of more surgery, chemo, and radiation. Of course, I prayed. And sought God’s way for healing.
I learned what cancer is and why I got it. Then, I reasoned, I could reverse the damage I was doing—and I did. My body healed. There was a lot of learning involved… and a lot of faith. But, almost thirty years later, I’m alive, healthy, and helping others find the same freedom.
The shocking truth is that cancer is not just random. It develops in an environment that allows it. When you change the environment of your body, you can change the outcome. I learned to change the root cause of the cancer in my body, not just treat the symptoms.
Why Aren’t We Told the Whole Story?
The pharmaceutical industry is a multi-billion-dollar business. Sadly, there’s more financial interest in keeping people chronically sick than in curing disease. Over 1.6 million people are treated for cancer each year in the U.S., and around 580,000 people die from it annually. That means one in three who are diagnosed will eventually die of cancer.
Yet God designed our body to heal. He built into us the ability to fight off disease when we align with how He created us to live. The Bible makes it clear: “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…” (Romans 12:2).
God’s Way to Health
We live in a toxic, stressful, and increasingly broken world. Our food is depleted of nutrients, our water and environment are polluted, and stress levels are higher than ever. But God has a better way.
When I finally turned my health over to Him, I discovered how to nourish my body, strengthen my immune system, and align my faith with His promises. Healing became not just possible—but real.
Jesus said the road that leads to life is narrow, and few find it (Matthew 7:13–14). That includes the road to health and healing. The world will always shout its answers—chemo, radiation, drugs—but God’s way is different. It necessitates faith, wisdom, a hearing hear for the whispers of God’s truth. It demands a willingness to walk a road less traveled.
Take Responsibility for Your Health
Think about your car for a moment. If no one ever taught you that it needs gas, oil, and a charged battery, you’d be stranded when it broke down. Our bodies are no different. When we don’t understand how they were designed to function, we can’t keep them running the way God intended.
The truth is—you are responsible for your health. Not your doctor. Not the pharmaceutical companies. You. And the good news is, you don’t have to figure it out alone. God built an immune system into every person that He designed to heal. But we have to partner with God to keep it working. God is ready to lead you into healing and health, and I’d love to help you on that journey.
A Final Word of Hope
If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with cancer, I want you to know this: there is hope. God loves you. He wants you well. He has given you a body designed to heal, and His Word filled with promises you can stand on.
I’ve walked this journey myself. I’ve seen death up close and found life on the other side. And I share my full story—the steps I took and the principles I live by today—in my book Life, Cancer and God.
You don’t have to live in fear of cancer. With God’s wisdom and a willingness to walk His way, you can win over cancer too—or prevent it from ever happening.
Standing in faith with you,
