Agreeing with God

God has given each of us free will, and with that comes the responsibility to choose. We are created to choose what thoughts we allow, what words we speak, and what actions we take. Will we choose to use those spiritual forces in agreement with Him—or not? Every decision, every word, and every thought either aligns us with God’s truth or drifts us away from Him toward defeat.
When I was battling cancer, I chose to speak what God said about me: “I am healed.” Even when the manifestation wasn’t visible in my body, I held to that truth. Words carry power. They can shift circumstances, because everything we see in this natural realm is temporary and ultimately reflect what is already established in the spiritual.
Faith Beyond Circumstances
Hebrews 11:1 tells us: “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Faith isn’t about what you can touch, see, or feel. The Amplified Bible says that faith “comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses.” That means faith reaches into the invisible spiritual realm and pulls it into the visible natural realm.
God’s Word Never Returns Void.
When we choose to believe and declare His promises—even when circumstances scream the opposite—we partner with Him to bring His unseen will for us into our reality.
Building a Strong Spirit
Our natural world is like a house of cards. One day it will vanish, but the spiritual realm will remain. That’s why it’s vital to strengthen our spirit, which is the eternal core of who we are.
If we neglect prayer, Scripture, and fellowship with God, our spirit becomes weak—even if our mind is sharp and our body is strong. To truly live as God intended, our spirit must lead the way. That happens as we consistently feed it with truth from His Word, prayer, and time in His presence.
Just as learning to ride a bike feels wobbly at first, building a relationship with God may feel unnatural in the beginning. But the more time we spend with Him, the stronger and more natural it becomes.
Standing Against Depression
Depression is a battle many face throughout life’s struggles. The world calls it a chemical imbalance or something inherited, but God doesn’t author depression—He promises joy and abundant life. Depression is a lie the enemy uses that is designed to steal, kill, and destroy God’s will from our lives.
In my early marriage, I learned that depression is a bottomless pit. The longer you let those thoughts and feelings linger, the deeper you sink. The enemy uses negative thoughts and circumstances to open the door to despair. But we don’t have to agree with those lies.
Instead, we take thoughts captive and pull them down if they oppose God’s truth. I learned that depression is a spirit sent from our enemy. In moments of darkness, I learned to speak out loud: “In the name of Jesus, I rebuke this spirit of depression. You have no place in me. I belong to Jesus and He has already defeated you.” Then I would begin praising the Lord, because His presence comes when His people praise. And when God is present, the enemy cannot remain.
Praise is a weapon. God has given us authority over the enemy, but too many Christians never learn to pick up their spiritual weapons. When our spirit is strong and in agreement with God’s Word, our soul and body follow.
Choosing Life
God said, “I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Therefore, choose life.” Every day, we face that choice. Will we agree with fear, sickness, and depression—or with God’s promises of healing, joy, and life?
Agreeing with God isn’t complicated, but it does require commitment. It means strengthening your spirit, rejecting lies, speaking His Word, and walking in faith even when feelings don’t line up.
Victory begins with agreement. When you choose to align your thoughts, words, and actions with God’s truth, you step into the abundant life He designed for you.
Standing in faith with you,
